UN envoy meets Burmese pro-democracy leader
The United Nations envoy to Burma, Razali Ismail, has met pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi during a visit to the country.
Official sources say the Malaysian diplomat arrived at Ms Suu Kyi's residence earlier today, after holding two hours of talks with the ruling junta's number three leader - and head of military intelligence - Lieutenant-General Khin Nyunt.
On Thursday he's scheduled to meet the Central Executive Committee of the opposition National League for Democracy, which is led by Aung San Suu Kyi.
Mr Razali ends his visit to Burma on Friday.
It has come amid growing speculation that Burma's leaders are poised to finally release the NLD leader from her house arrest, which would be a significant ste forward after a decade of political deadlock.
