South Korea and Japan clash over history books The row between South Korea and Japan over a controversial school text book has intensified. South Korea had planned on opening its borders on Japanese movies, music and television, but that move has now been frozen. The decision to continue the ban on cultural products follows South Korea's announcement that it will scale back military contacts with Japan. Korea has rescinded an invitation for a naval vessel to visit the port of Inchon and cancelled a visit to Japan by South Korea's joint chief of staff chairman. The moves are in response to Japan's refusal to make additional changes to a new history textbook. South Korea believes the book whitewashes Japan's wartime atrocities. 13/07/01 5:06:13 | ABC Radio Australia News
