China expresses support for Nepalese fight against Maoists
China has expressed firm support to the Nepalese government which has declared a state of emergency in its fight against Maoist rebels.
The Chinese government says it resolutely supports all moves taken by the Nepalese king and government to restore peace and stability in the country.
The Foreign Ministry says the Chinese government has no intention to intervene in the situation because China and Nepal uphold the principle of non-interference in the domestic affairs.
More than 300 people have been killed in seven days of fighting between the government and the Maoists, who want to abolish the constitutional monarchy and set up a socialist state.
