Curfew impose in Sri Lanka after election-related violence
Army troops have been deployed and an indefinite curfew ordered in north-central Sri Lanka, after one man was killed in clashes related to the country's election campaign.
Police say violence erupted as the five week-long campaign came to an end with the death toll reaching 17 in poll-related attacks across the country.
Army officials say troops have been deployed to help police maintain law and order. During the violence a petrol station owned by an opposition United National Party candidate was attacked and 11 vehicles smashed by gunmen believed to be supporters of the ruling People's Alliance.
A P-A supporter was killed in a bomb explosion as he was driving in a convoy following the violence.
