US warning to citizens in Indonesia

The United States is warning its citizens in Indonesia to take extra precautions over Christmas, saying they could be in the firing line from radical Muslim opponents of its war on terrorism.

The US embassy in Jakarta issued an e-mail message advising Americans to recall a spate of religiously motivated church bombings which killed dozens of people in cities throughout Indonesia last year.

The message said there was no evidence that American citizens or interests were targeted however, there were indications similar incidents could occur again this year.
