China urges India and Pakistan to exercise restraint
China has urged India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint, during the simmering tensions along their border.
During a meeting in Beijing with Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf said he was willing to work to ease the current tensions through dialogue.
Mr Zhu told Musharraf it was in both countries' interests to safeguard peace and stability in the south Asian region.
General Musharraf leaves Beijing today for a regional summit in Kathmandu, where it's hoped he will meet India's prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
