Thailand and Burma to establish task force to repatriate illegal worke
After two days of ministerial talks Thailand and Burma say they will establish a task force to repatriate illegal workers back to Burma.
The Thai Foreign Ministry says the fate of 100 thousand workers, not registered with Thai authorities, will be decided by the task force at the end of next month. Meanwhile both countries will operate a holding centre, for some workers, on Burma's side of the border,
No agreement however was reached on the fate of some 110 thousand ethnic Karen and Karenni people who are held in 11 camps along the Thai Burmese border.
Thailand says their fate will be discussed at a later meeting between the two countries.
