Re-elections ordered in 14 Thai seats
Electoral authorities in Thailand have ordered re-elections in 14 constituencies .. eight of them held by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's Thai Rak Thai party.
The Election Commission ordered the fourth round of voting in the January 2001 national elections, disqualifying two MPs from running again and ordering 12 others to go to the polls once more.
Prime Minister Thaksin says he accepts the ruling, but says Thai Rak Thai will re-contest all the disallowed constituencies and predicted his party would be successful.
Despite the damage to the Thai Rak Thai-led coalition, the by-elections will not jeopardise its majority of 340 seats in the 500-seat House of Representatives.
