Pakistan President says bin Ladin probably dead

Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf says he believes Osama bin Laden is probably already dead.

But as South Asia correspondent Jonathan Harley reports, the President admits he has no solid information on the whereabouts of the world's most wanted man.

Pervez Musharraf's told CNN he believes Osama bin Laden may have succumbed to a kidney disorder on the basis it would have been unlikely he could have received treatment since US-led attacks on Afghanistan began in October. The Pakistani President says Osama bin Laden had donated two dialysis machines to the Taliban, one of which was for his personal use. In bin Laden's latest video appearance, broadcast on December 26 on the al Jazzera network, he looked gaunt and weak, sparking fresh speculation he's critically ill. It's not clear if Pervez Musharraf has special intelligence on the fate of Osama bin Laden, who the Pakistani President believes is still in Afghanistan, if he is alive.
