New Afghan govt 'satisfied" with international aid pledge

The interim Afghan government says it's satisfied with the amount of money committed to the country so far, after the first day of the reconstruction conference in Japan.

As Tokyo correspondent Mark Simkin reports, more aid will be pledged today:

"So far the international community has promised more than three billion US dollars to the rebuilding of Afghanistan. It's still a long way short of the ten billion dollars the United Nations believes will be needed over the next five years. Still, the leader of the interim Afghan government Hamid Karzai, has welcomed the commitment so far, saying he hopes he can return home with full hands. The conference will wrap up this afternoon.
