UN Sec Gen leaves Kabul

The United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has left the Afghan capital, Kabul, after becoming the first U-N chief to visit Afghanistan in 42 years.

It was a largely symbolic visit to Afghanistan, but came with a warning by Kofi Annan to neighbouring countries to keep out of Afghan affairs.

Amid growing security concerns outside Kabul, interim administration chairman, Hamid Karzai, said he would like the international peacekeeping force to be expanded beyond the capital.

But he's dismissed as exaggerated, reports of fighting between rival commanders this week.
