Bush defends his description of North Koean as an axis of evil

American President George W. Bush has defended his description of North Korea as being part of an axis of evil.

Speaking at a joint news conference with South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung in Seoul, Mr Bush said the U-S is committed to peace on the Korean peninsula.

Mr Bush also explained why he has used the phrase "axis of evil" in the context of North Korea.

CART: I love freedom, I understand the importance of freedom in people's lives. I am troubled by a regime that tolerates starvation, I worry about a regime that is closed and not transparent. I'm deeply concerned about the people of North Korea and I believe that it is important that for those of who love freedom to stand strong for freedom and make it clear the benefits of freedom.
