Phnom Penh court finds 19 people guilty of rebel attacks The Phnom Penh Municipal Court has found 19 Cambodians, including a US citizen, guilty of staging rebel attacks and sentenced them to between five years and life in prison. The Cambodia Feedom Fighters, or CFF, are an armed group run by Chhun Yasith, who lives in California as a computer programmer. In November 2000 he inspired an uprising within Cambodia which led to bloodshed and arrests after chaotic early morning attacks on military installations in and around Phnom Penh. Today in that city an American colleague of Chhun Yasith was found guilty of those attacks along with 18 Cambodians, their sentences ranging from 10 years to life. The group was also found guilty of other violent acts with seemingly spurious links to the activities of the CFF. The group is committed to the overthrow of Prime Minister Hun Sen, who they label a puppet leader for Vietnam's communist regime.
