India says no to getting involved in Sri Lanka peace talks

Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has rejected a request from Sri Lanka's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam to lift a ban on them and join upcoming peace talks between the group and Sri Lanka government.

Mr Vajpayee say India has no intention to follow the rebel groups wishes.

He says Indians do not want to get involved.

However, Mr Vajpayee said India might consider allowing LTTE negotiator Anton Balasingham, to come to India for medical treatment on humanitarian grounds.
