U-S presses for second meeting with air crew of stranded plane
The United States has pressed for a second meeting with 24 detained crew members of an American spy plane.
The plane is stranded on a southern Chinese island after colliding with a Chinese fighter.
An American diplomat says they are trying to arrange the meeting through the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the island province of Hainan on which the plane made an emergency landing at the weekend.
The U-S defence attache, Neal Sealock, says he has met the entire crew, held for nearly three days and found them in good health.
Beijing has offered no hope of early freedom for the Americans, instead raising the stakes with hardline statements demanding an apology over the mid-air collision.
The United States has ruled out an apology, with President George W-Bush warning the future of US-China relations is at stake.
