Twenty die in north China mine blast

A gas explosion at a coal mine in the northern Chinese Province of Shanxi has killed 20 miners.

At least six other miners are still missing.

The manager of the mine and two others have been detained in connection with the accident after a government order to shut down the mine was ignored.

All small coal mines in the region were ordered to shut down for safety inspections following four earlier gas blasts.
