India test fires a nuclear capable missile
India has successfully test fired a locally made short range surface-to-surface missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
A defence spokesman says the missile blasted off at a national test range in the eastern Indian state of Orissa.
He says the missile has a 250 kilometre range and it hit the intended target after a flawless flight.
Another version of the missile capable of delivering a one-tonne warhead to a distance of 150 kilometres is already in service with the army.
