The formation of a new government for Afghanistan is underway in Kabul
The head of Afghanistan's incoming interim government, Hamid Karzai, has pledged peace and security for Afghanistan after arriving in Kabul to build a new government under a UN-brokered accord.
France and Germany say they will press the European Union to take a strong role in reconstruction and Britain says it will host a top-level military conference to organise a peacekeeping force.
The United States is offering a new incentive to Afghan bounty hunters with a reward of about 20-million dollars for information leading to the capture of Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.
The reward came after Washington released a video showing bin Laden expressing satisfaction at the scale of the carnage and damage inflicted on the twin towers of New York's World Trade Centre.
At the Tora Bora front, Afghan militia have captured another line of caves defended by Osama bin Laden's followers.
The Afghan Islamic Press says there was no opposition from the foreign troops who retreated to another set of caves.
US warplanes guided by American and British commandos are bombing these areas.
