Afghanistan's interim Cabinet holds first meeting

Afghanistan's interim Cabinet has held its first meeting in the capital, Kabul, as it faces up to the task of rebuilding the shattered country.

The new leader, Hamid Karzai, says the main theme of the meeting was security.

He described the atmosphere in the Cabinet among the various factions represented as "excellent".

Mr Karzai again appealed for large amounts of international assistance and warned that if the new Administration doesn't deliver tangible benefits to the Afghan people it will go into oblivion.

He's also vowed to hand over suspected terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, as well as the Taliban's spiritual leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, if they're arrested in his country.

The two of them together committed murder and the destruction of the Afghan land and people. There's no way that he can go unpunished. If we arrest him, we will deliver him to international justice.
