India calls on Pakistan to act against groups suspected of parliament
India has called on Pakistan to respond swiftly to its demands that action be taken against two militant groups which New Delhi has accused of carrying out an attack on the Indian parliament last week. Indian foreign ministry spokeswoman Nirupama Rao said New Delhi had told Islamabad it had "credible evidence" about the involvement of the two Pakistan-based groups -- Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Ms Rao says India expects action to be taken against the groups, but she says so far there has been no "credible response from Pakistan".
All five suspected militant gunmen were killed in Thursday's assault on parliament, which left nine others dead, most of them security personnel.
The Lashkar and Jaish are two of the many Muslim guerrilla outfits battling New Delhi's rule in Indian-administered Kashmir. Ms Rao also questioned Pakistan's credentials to be part of the US-led alliance in the war against terrorism, when she said "in deeds" it was still promoting "terrorism" against India.
