Afghanistan has a new leader and a new government
Afghanistan has a new leader and a new Government.
Hamid Karzai and 29 members of his interim administration have been sworn in at a ceremony in the capital, Kabul, attended by more than two-thousand delegates from every province in Afganistan and around the world.
His new administration is designed to be representative of all Afghanistan's tribal factions.
Earlier, Hamid Karzai paid tribute to those who died for his country's freedom in more than 20 years of fighting.
He also outlined the new Government's tasks, including safeguarding women's rights, as well as peace and security.

Today we are happy that we are seeing the sun rise again on our country's land and we can see that the wave of peace and unity is coming to our country. This will be fulfilled when we are together with one heart and one hand.
