US urges Pakistan to arrest 20 militants accused of being terrorists

The United States has urged Pakistan to act on India's demands, for the arrest of 20 militants it has accused of being terrorists.

From Washington, John Shovelan reports America's Secretary of State made the comments after meeting India's Home Minister, L-K Advani:

"U-S Secretary of State, Colin Powell said he had seen the list compiled by India and had discussed it with Indian officials and the Pakistani President: "I know that President Musharraf has the list. I hope he will take appropriate action on the list." After Monday's meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, President Musharraf said he was examining the list. India has accused two Pakistan-based militant groups of carrying out an attack on its parliament on December 13th, which has sparked a military stand-off between the two countries.
