India criticises Pakistan as US launches South Asia peace bid
India's Home Minister, L-K Advani, has launched a strong verbal attack against Pakistan, as America's Secretary of State, Colin Powell, announced a peace mission to the region.
Mr Advani used the first day of meetings in Washington with top U-S officials to initiate a new diplomatic campaign against Pakistan.
The current standoff between India and Pakistan has raised fears of a new war between the two nuclear armed rivals.
Nearly a month after militants targeted India's parliament in an attack New Delhi says was aided by Pakistani intelligence, Mr Advani vowed to fight what he called Pakistan-sponsored cross border terrorism to the finish.
He called for immediate action from Pakistan including the handover of 20 militants branded by India as terrorists.
Mr Powell, who will head for India and Pakistan next week, called on Islamabad to intensify a crackdown on militants.
