Vietnam places dissident writer under house arrest
Authorities in Vietnam's Central Highlands province of Lam Dong have placed a dissident writer under house arrest.
A government official says Bui Minh Quoc was detained at his home in the resort city of Dalat for violating Vietnamese laws.
He didn't elaborate.
The Paris-based Reporters Without Borders says that days before his house arrest, Quoc was detained by police in Hanoi who confiscated more than 300 documents regarded as reactionary.
The organization alleges that Quoc's arrest is connected to an investigation he led into Vietnam's land concessions to China as part of a border delineation agreement signed in 1999.
The Associated Press newsagency says critics believe that Vietnam conceded too much land to China in the deal.
