Sri Lankan rebels end one sided ceasefire

Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels says they will end their one-sided ceasefire from today -- and has accused government forces of killing 160 of their fighters during the unilateral truce.

The separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam say they will not extend their truce -- but will continue to support Norway's attempts to broker peace in Sri Lanka.

The Tigers say their repeated pleas to the international community to convince the Sri Lankan government to reciprocate positively to their "peace gesture" was of no avail.

The Tigers had announced holding their fire on Christmas Eve and said the move was to support peace efforts to end the island's drawn out conflict which has killed over 60-thousand people in the past two decades.
